What is NSS?
The NSS is the largest UK-wide annual survey aimed at final year undergraduates in the UK. The survey provides you with an opportunity to give your honest opinions on your whole student journey; from what you liked about your course at Regent's to things that you feel could have been improved.
The survey is administered by Ipsos, an independent market research agency, on behalf of the Office for Students (OfS) and the UK Higher Education funding and regulatory bodies in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
You will also be given the opportunity to provide comments on your overall student experience at Regent's, and some questions that Regent's has specifically opted to ask, such as how likely you'd be to recommend us to other students.

Why should I take part?
The NSS provides you with the opportunity to provide honest feedback on your student experience:
-
Your opinions will be used to improve the student experience at Regent's
-
The feedback you submit is taken very seriously and informs the quality assurance system with regards to teaching quality
-
Results are published and used by prospective students, their families and advisors to make decisions on what and where to study

Why does your feedback matter?
We take the survey very seriously, and every year, when we get the results, we spend significant time analysing the results to find specific things we can improve. It also allows us to reflect on what we’re doing well so we can keep doing it.
As a result of previous feedback, including from the NSS, we have implemented loads of fantastic changes:
✔️ When you told us the Wi-Fi on campus was unreliable, we enhanced connectivity and upgraded our networks
✔️ When you told us that you wanted more variety from on-campus catering options, we launched a partnership with a new food and drink provider, extended the opening hours for The Brasserie Café, and built an outdoor terrace to refresh our al fresco dining spaces
✔️ When you said that you wanted more opportunities to get active, we launched the Evolve Studio with free social fitness sessions for all levels
✔️ When you told us you wanted an enhanced sense of belonging, we developed a programme of wellbeing events and opportunities – with more to come in 2025
✔️ When you told us you wanted more quiet study spaces, we transformed the Library’s first floor into a quiet study area, with other spaces available for silent and group study.
What happens with the results?
The NSS results are published to help prospective students, their families and advisors make informed decisions of where and what to study. This is available on Discover Uni.
Universities or colleges and supporting Student Unions also use the data to identify areas of strengths and weaknesses and bring about change to improve the experience for future generations of students.

How the NSS protects your data and anonymity?
Taking part in the NSS is entirely voluntary. All your responses will remain anonymous and at no point will you be identified to anyone at Regent’s. Any personally identifiable data will be securely deleted by Ipsos after the survey closes and will not be shared with any third parties. More information is available on the NSS website.

Inappropriate Influence
Inappropriate influence refers to any action that may pressure you to provide anything other than your genuine opinion about your course experience in your NSS responses.
A student guide on inappropriate influence is available which details what may constitute inappropriate influence and the types of promotion universities and colleges are, or are not, allowed to undertake. It provides details on the help and support available if you feel you are being or have been influenced in how to respond to the survey, along with the process in place to investigate allegations of inappropriate influence and what happens in case of a breach of guidance.
Is there anything new for 2025?
For 2025, the Office for Students (OfS) is launching a one-year pilot of an online-only sexual misconduct survey for students across England. After completing the NSS 2025, you will be invited to take part in this survey, which aims to better understand the prevalence of sexual harassment, assault, and the reporting of sexual misconduct in Higher Education.
While some of the survey's language may be explicit and potentially uncomfortable, it is designed this way to ensure clarity and accuracy in measuring the prevalence of these issues. Content warnings will be provided throughout, and support resources will be available for those who may find the questions distressing.
This survey is entirely optional, and you don't have to take part or answer any questions you don’t want to.
If you really do not wish to be presented with the opportunity to complete the sexual misconduct survey, email the Ipsos student helpline directly via thestudentsurvey@ipsos.com and their team will be able to help.
If you do decide to take part, our Wellbeing and Disability team are on hand to provide access to a range of support resources and services if and when you need them.

Mind Charity
For every student who completes the NSS, Regent's Student Union will donate £1 to Mind, he UK charity for mental health support.
Mind offers information and advice to people with mental health problems and lobbies government and local authorities on their behalf. It also works to raise public awareness and understanding of issues relating to mental health.
Your feedback matters and we sincerely hope you will take part in the NSS. This is a unique opportunity to give your views on your course and your time at Regent’s.
