Final-year students

The 2026 National Student Survey

The National Student Survey (NSS) 2026 is now live at Regent's. The survey is now open to eligible final-year undergraduates

What is NSS?

The NSS is the largest UK wide annual survey aimed at final year undergraduates in the UK. The survey provides you with an opportunity to give their honest opinions on what you liked about your course at Regent's as well as things that you feel could have been improved.

The survey is administered by Ipsos, an independent market research agency on behalf of the OfS and the UK Higher Education funding and regulatory bodies - the Department for the Economy (Northern Ireland), the Scottish Funding Council and the Commission for Tertiary Education and Research - so your responses remain anonymous to your university or college at all times.

You will be asked questions relating to various aspects of your course such as teaching, assessment and feedback and learning resources. You will also be given the opportunity to provide comments on your overall student experience at your university/college. You may also be asked some additional questions specific to your course and Regent's.

Why should I take part?

The NSS provides you with the opportunity to provide honest feedback on your student experience:

  • Your opinions will be used to improve the student experience at Regent's

  • The feedback you submit is taken very seriously and informs the quality assurance system with regards to teaching quality

  • Results are published and used by prospective students, their families and advisors to make decisions on what and where to study

Why does your feedback matter?

We take the survey very seriously, and every year, when we get the results, we spend significant time analysing the results to find specific things we can improve. It also allows us to reflect on what we’re doing well so we can keep doing it.

As a result of previous feedback, including from the NSS, we have implemented loads of fantastic changes:

✔️ When you asked us to improve Wi-Fi and access to essential software, we rolled out ultra-fast campus-wide Wi-Fi and plans are underway to expand self-help resources for IT support

✔️ When you told us you want more internships, networking, and placement opportunities, we introduced the Career Catalyst Programme, embedded career sessions in modules, and partnered with a new provider guaranteeing placements for those on the placement pathway

✔️ When you said that you said classrooms and windows need renovation to improve your learning environment, we launched a five-year refurbishment program, starting with six new state-of-the-art teaching spaces and secondary glazing in Reid Hall for better energy efficiency

✔️ When you wanted us to streamline access to academic resources and make navigation easier, we redesigned the Library SharePoint page for better structure, improved RUL Discovery to reduce dead links, and strengthened collaboration with tutors to ensure timely availability of key module resources

✔️ When you told us you provide clearer guidance on Post-Study Work (PSW) visas and related processes, we delivered 10 workshops, introduced drop-in sessions and an advice line, and updated FAQs on the website.

What happens with the results?

The NSS results are published to help prospective students, their families and advisors make informed decisions of where and what to study. This is available on Discover Uni.

Universities or colleges and supporting Student Unions also use the data to identify areas of strengths and weaknesses and bring about change to improve the experience for future generations of students.

How the NSS protects your data and anonymity?

Taking part in the NSS is entirely voluntary. All your responses will remain anonymous and at no point will you be identified to anyone at Regent’s. Any personally identifiable data will be securely deleted by Ipsos after the survey closes and will not be shared with any third parties. More information is available on the NSS website.

What is inappropriate influence?

Inappropriate influence refers to any action that may pressure you to provide anything other than your genuine opinion about your course experience in your NSS responses.

A student guide on inappropriate influence is available which details what may constitute inappropriate influence and the types of promotion universities and colleges are, or are not, allowed to undertake. It provides details on the help and support available if you feel you are being or have been influenced in how to respond to the survey, along with the process in place to investigate allegations of inappropriate influence and what happens in case of a breach of guidance.
