About the Event
Dr. Lea Getu, PhD, is the author of the groundbreaking new book Therapeutic Work with Perpetrators and Survivors of Female-to-Female Child Sexual Abuse: A Clinician’s Guide, published by Routledge in December 2025.
An Assistant Professor and Foundation Course Leader for the Professional Psychotherapy and Counselling Foundation Certificate at Regent’s, Lea is also an integrative psychotherapist and registered UKCP member. With over two decades of clinical experience across primary care, educational, and private settings, she brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to her work.
In this talk, Lea will share the personal and professional journey that led to the creation of her book. She will reflect on how her own lived experiences and early questions about the book's challenging topic evolved into a lifelong research pursuit — beginning with her MA dissertation, deepening through her PhD, and culminating in this pioneering publication.
Her presentation will also explore key themes from the book, and offers Regent's staff, students and alumni an enriching opportunity to engage with a clinician and researcher whose work challenges taboos, deepens understanding, and opens new avenues for therapeutic practice and social awareness.
Following the talk, there will be drinks and refreshments and an opportunity to connect and chat with event attendees.
Please RSVP via Eventbrite using the link above to confirm attendance numbers.
