About the speakers
Lydia Slater, Editor-in-Chief, Harper’s BAZAAR
Lydia Slater is the Editor-in-Chief of Harper’s BAZAAR. Prior to taking over, Lydia was Deputy Editor of the title. During this time, she expanded the BAZAAR’s ‘At Work’ programme and launched the ‘BAZAAR Summit’, an annual conference that champions the career woman, bringing together BAZAAR’s high-net worth readership with women leaders from around the world, an initiative that has become a pillar of the brand.
Lydia sits on the advisory council of the Walpole, the official sector body for British luxury, leading the Women in Luxury programme, which aims to achieve gender parity in the C-suite by 2025, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a member of the Ginsburg Women's Health Board.
Before joining Hearst, Lydia was the launch Editor of The Week’s Fashion magazine, and of Something About magazine. Additionally, editing The Sunday Times Style magazine, was a columnist for The Sunday Times and for ES Magazine, and has written regularly for publications including The Times and Daily Telegraph. Lydia lives in London with her two daughters and a rescue greyhound.
Sasha Slater, Head of Luxury, The Telegraph
Sasha has been a journalist for almost 30 years, working for notable newspapers including The Telegraph, The Times, The Independent on Sunday, The Evening Standard, Daily Mail, and more, as well as on glossy magazines including Harper's BAZAAR and Cosmopolitan.
Before venturing onto Fleet Street, she had a brief stint as a Russian art expert at Christie's auctioneers but rapidly saw the error of her ways. The endless quest for the best of the best in the worlds of Couture, jewellery, horology, and travel takes her round the globe – with this year alone travelling to Japan, Los Angeles, Miami, and all across Europe with the likes of Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Dior.
Sasha’s degree in French and Italian at Magdalen College, Oxford, comes in surprisingly handy on the road: enabling to speak fluent fashion. When Sasha does touch base, she lives in Clerkenwell with her husband, two children, and two senile Siamese cats.
Sophie Slater, Student at Regent’s University
Sophie Slater is a third-year BA Liberal Arts student majoring in Psychology and minoring in Art History at Regent’s University. She has held leadership positions as the President of the Liberal Arts Council and the Vice President of Councils and Representation in Regent’s Student Union. Passionate about interior design, Sophie has completed coursework at University of the Arts London and has gained valuable internship experience with several world-renowned designers. Sophie plans to stay in London after graduation to pursue a career in interior design.
