Different types of roles

Vice President roles

Vice President roles are appointed through an interview. Applicants are interviewed and voted in by members of the SU after discussion and a points-based review. Vice Presidents lead their team and focus on representation and operational areas of student life. These are Communications, Community Development, Wellbeing and EDI and Councils and Representation. These positions require previous experience working in the Student Union, receive burseries and require to work in the office fro 10 hours every week.

Officers roles

Officers roles are appointed through an interview. Applicants are interviewed and voted in by members of the SU after discussion and a points-based review. These positions are more operational and focus on different areas of student life, such as wellbeing, events, societies, sustainability, communications, or social inclusivity. While they still represent student voices, they also lead on SU projects, campaigns and day-to-day responsibilities that keep the SU active and effective. This means there are many areas to choose from, depending on your skills and interests. These roles are volunteers.

Council Presidents Roles

Council Presidents are voted in by the students they represent. Each President is elected by fellow students within their broader subject area (for example, all Undergraduate Business students across the different Business courses vote for the Business Council President). This ensures that the person representing your school has been chosen by your peers to share your feedback, lead council meetings, and work with the SU and the University to deliver improvements that matter to your area of study. These roles are volunteers.
