On the 6th of February the four days of the Universities Winter National Championships 2020 have started! Taking place in the Winter Arena Nationals at Rugby Polo Club, the occasion attracted more than 200 teams from all over the UK participated.
Two Regent’s teams were registered - students from different programmes and levels.
Upper Intermediate team achieving 3rd place in a very competitive university group including Cambridge, Loughborough and Harper Adams. Median team did compete with the aim to be in a top position, we are pleased with their performance finishing above Loughborough, Cambridge, Oxford and Durham.
The Student Union, on behalf of all its Executives members, congratulates our Regent's teams with the success!
Ben Duckworth, Global Management student, was selected to be part of the international exhibition match representing England vs USA:
"I hope that my experience shows potential University polo players at any level, that they can enjoy and excel in this amazing sport while at university, no matter what experience they have. I would encourage anyone and everyone to get involved and try polo out, while they are studying at Regents University”.
Cristianne, Median team’s captain mentioned, “The Winter Nationals were the best experience for any University polo player. I truly enjoyed the atmosphere, the people and the opportunity to represent Regent’s in a National event. A big thank you to all who made this possible for us”
Organiser SUPA (Schools and Universities Polo Association) promotes and develops Schools and Universities Polo. Founded in 1991, SUPA acts as a central point of reference for advice, guidance and encouragement. Founded in 1991 by five senior schools and later associating with two universities, SUPA expanded as a members association to include other Universities in 1994 and invited seven Junior (Prep) Schools to join in 1994. In 2005 SUPA was incorporated by its member institutions as Schools and Universities Polo Association Limited. In 2014 SUPA became a registered UK Charity.
